SYNOPSIS
Dancing with Shadows is the story of Louise, a 19-year-old ballerina, who is tortured by a painful injury and childhood trauma that threatens to destroy her dream of becoming a professional dancer. The film traces her journey as she begins a tentative relationship with a young man named Max and attempts to separate from her overbearing parents. Crosscutting scenes in the film give fleeting fragments of the darkness of her uncertain future and the idealism of her youth when she first left home as a 13-year-old to train at an elite ballet school. Set in Vancouver, this multi-narrative story gives a portrait of a dancer at a crossroads in her life and asks how much she should be willing to sacrifice for her dream.
